Not much to say about that game. Varsity vs. 8th Grade Team.
I did like the "trickeration" on the on-side kick and the reverse pass!!! It will make PSU have to think a little bit more and practice a little more than just stopping the run off left tackle and TP running around without a clue, because there is no timing between his throws and the receiver's routes.
Will need a near-perfect game next week to win.

HALF Way There!!!
One good half of Offense will work pretty well with this Defense, so I'll take it!!!
Someone finally figured out that when they play 7 or 8 guys on the line of scrimmage with their safeties up close, that leaves man to man coverage on the outside deep patterns. Next thing you know: two long, wide-open touchdown passes. TP finally decided to run hard and often also.
Minnesota couldn't catch a cold, alone a pass, so I'm not sure how great our defense was, but they didn't have to be with the Gophers ineptness.
The wind and light rain put a little damper on the tailgating, but we were under cover with the wind blocked, the heaters roaring and the beef stew warming our bellies.
We will be celebrating the New Mexico State "Tex-Mex" food heritage with two or three different types of chilis.
See you on Saturday.

Bring on the Varments!!!
Hopefully our success against ground dwelling rodents (wolverines, badgers, gophers) will continue on Saturday.
The Offense definately has to get better but it will not be because Terrelle Pryor is working hard to become better or doesn't care! TP was interviewed yesterday and is taking all this very hard and is promising better results. He is not blaming anyone but himself for the struggles.
Remember, Troy Smith's sophomore year started out with him as a Kick Returner AND they lost four games that year and things turned out pretty well for both the Bucks and Troy.
Whatever happens, we will still be doing the BEST Tailgate around!!!
Mom and Dad are bringing down Beef Stew to warm our bellies and I'll have some hot cider in the thermos also.

UHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do not know what to say!?!?
Every concern that I have had the past seven season came together and finally formed the "perfect storm" of CRAP!!!
The combination of Poor Execution, Poor Play Calling and for a lack of better terms, an Absence of Any Balls, brought upon us the worst loss that I have seen since the UCLA game out in California back in 2oo1.
My "therapy" will be to post a little each day this week.

At Least He Is Truthful and Consistent!!!
A quote from Coach Tressel at today's OSU Football Media Luncheon.
"I think the primary responsibility of the Offense is to never put the Defense in poor position."
"And also to make sure that you take opportunities to score points."
As noted by a reporter from the Ozone, "The fact that scoring points was an afterthought could have alot to do with Ohio State's struggles on offense over the years."
It was also discussed that Terrelle nevers audibles at the line of scrimmage, unless it is to an option run, due to the defense being in a "cover two" or "cover three" defense.
Those two things explain a lot (and backs up what many people are saying) about the problem with the Offense.
NOT making mistakes and NOT changing the plays to be more successful when you get to the line of scrimmage is NOT the recipe for beating the top teams in the country!!!!
I'm sure that the Opposing Coaches already know this also!
Don't you think that it gives the other coaches an "edge", when they know that the opposing coach is most always going to take the conservative approach or make the "safe" play call?!?!?!?!?
Tress is a GREAT Head Coach!!!
He just needs to find someone who can take the talent that he brings in and make the Offense be more successful!!!

Well that was DIFFERENT!?!?!?
It sure is fun watching this Defense, huh?!?!
They fly around and really cause havoc! I sure hope that this year's team doesn't make us all think about "what could have been" if they could have consistently made some plays on Offense. There are more and more people talking about how Tressel should give up control of the offense after this year, but I believe the more pundits he has, the more stubborn he will get.
I just don't understand why the other teams we watch can consistently run plays that completely "fool" the other team, which then results in their defense having to make adjustments on the fly, which usually comes way too late.
We had some running success the past two games after making a few adjustments. Doesn't Tress understand that they also have coaches reviewing our tapes and they come in with ways they have designed to stop what we are doing. It was obvious that Wiscy was ready to stop the running play that worked against Illinois and Indiana.
We should have had another "wrinkle" added that they should have had to make other adjustments to. This would probably make the stuff we had been running successful.
Instead we continue to run off tackle time after time and then throw 5 yard passes on 3rd and 10. We have big and fast receivers but continually run pass patterns where we are coming to a stop, which nelegates the speed and size advantage we have.
Look at the passes that get intercepted and almost ALWAYS the receiver has stopped and is waiting for the pass which usually is either high or low or late! It seems TP throws better to receivers who are crossing the field or running deep patterns.
Thank GOD for the Defense!!!
The Tailgate was nothing special compared to most of our get-togethers, but we will be ready for those pesky Gophers in two weeks!!!!!
Go Bucks!!!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!!!
Looks like the rain is going to clear out and it should be a GREAT morning and afternoon for a little "get-together".
I have my two propane heaters so it should be nice and warm inside the tents.
Dad will be under his new OSU Snuggie that he received for his birthday. Buckeye Santa (Bobby) will be there early in full-getup to see how many ladies he can get to sit on his lap and ask for a present.
The Sausage is in the slow cooker and will go on the grill with "all the fixins" around noon. Carla made the "family" baked beans. The ones with the burger in them, so i am excited!!!
I'll see you down there!
Go Bucks!!!

Same Old, Same Old.
I'm not going to spend too much time on the game. When we play IU, it never seems to be much of a game.
I did almost have a coronary when Pryor threw the pass to Homan for the TD!!! After watching the past five years or so, I thought that the NCAA had made a rule stating that the Fullback was ONLY allowed to block, but it turned out that it was just ONE of the reasons why our offense sometimes seems so BLAH.
Just watch how much more successful our offense can be when we use ALL of your skill players, thus causing the defense to have to prepare to cover everyone who is allowed to catch or run it!!!
The Wisconsin game is a 3:30 pm kick-off, so as long as the weather holds, it should be another GREAT Tailgate. Dad bought a bunch of Beer Brats and "Buckeye Santa" Bobby will be bringing his fryer back down and will make his homade potato chips, as well as some other fried creations.
We'll have the TV and Satellite to watch Gameday and the Noon Games. If it gets cold, we'll also have the Propane Heaters to stay warm.
Remember that Dad will be turning 70 this week, so come join the celebration!!!
